Fat Grafting

(Lipomodelling)

Fat grafting, also referred to as fat transfer or fat injections, is a surgical process in which fat is harvested from one area of the body and transferred to another area. The primary goal of this procedure is to improve or augment the area where the fat is injected, enhancing both aesthetic and functional outcomes.

Facial Applications

  1. Facial Rejuvenation: Fat grafting is commonly used to address signs of aging in the face. It can smooth out wrinkles, fill in hollow areas such as the cheeks and temples, and reduce the appearance of deep lines like nasolabial folds. Fat grafting can also be used to enhance lip volume and improve the overall contour of the face.
  2. Under-Eye Hollows and Dark Circles: One of the most popular applications of fat grafting is to treat under-eye hollows and dark circles. By adding volume to these areas, the procedure can create a more rested and youthful appearance.
  3. Facial Scarring and Deformities: Fat grafting is effective in improving the appearance of facial scars, including acne scars and those resulting from injury or surgery. It can also be used to correct congenital deformities or volume loss due to medical conditions like hemifacial atrophy.

How it's Done?

  1. Harvesting Fat: The process begins with liposuction, where fat cells are gently removed from a donor site on the body, such as the abdomen, thighs, or flanks. This is typically done under local or general anesthesia, depending on the extent of the procedure and the patient's preferences.
  2. Purifying Fat: Once harvested, the fat cells are processed and purified to separate viable fat cells from any impurities or damaged cells. This purification step is crucial to ensure the best possible survival rate for the transferred fat.
  3. Injecting Fat: The purified fat is then carefully injected into the target areas of the face or body that require volume enhancement or correction. The surgeon uses a fine needle or cannula to place small amounts of fat in multiple layers, ensuring a smooth and natural-looking result.
